If you were overwhelmed by the lack of proggy psych on the latest King Gizzard album, you may find comfort in the fact that not only will the Aussie septet likely release at least three more records this year, but also that Stonefield exists. Comprised of four sisters, the fellow Melbourners share the Gizz’s penchant for dramatic, zoned-out riffs that take the listener far from earth, with their most recent record boasting aid from members of Black Mountain and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

If the Findlay sisters’ first three albums have yet to reach your ears, their fourth will introduce you to the band at their most dazed. With the first single, Bent previews the four-piece drifting in the droning direction of Windhand, “Sleep” being a significantly larger-scale take on heavy psych. Over the sludgy guitars, gurgling organs, and sci-fi synths, Amy Findlay’s piercing vocals lead the charge.

“‘Sleep’ was inspired by the concept of floating in the in-between,” explains sister Amy. “An ode to the darkness of not wanting to cross to the other side.”

We can expect Bent on June 14 via Flightless Records. After they make their way across Europe, you can catch the band on a North American tour this fall with King Gizzard at the following dates.
