The travails of travelling with a parent(ABC Radio - Conversations)

For years, comedian Adam Rozenbachs’ dad, Tommy, repeated the mantra, ‘I’d bloody love to go to Europe’. Tommy hadn't been overseas since migrating from Germany to Australia when he was two.

So Adam took the plunge, and at an Easter lunch, committed his Dad to a three week trip to Europe.

Tommy's perception of what Europe would be like - having no idea at all of the size and scale of it - was rather unrealistic.

He imagined it might be like a trip to Westfield: see the Colosseum, go to the food court, then head up to Amsterdam.

They also discovered his Dad didn't like museums or monuments, galleries or landmarks, or travelling much at all. And he really didn't like Paris.
